Kind Words
I have been extremely fortunate to work with some amazing people over the last several years. Here are some of the things they have to say.
Gretchen, a former employee, said this:
Brenton is one of the most talented, motivated, creative, organized, innovative, patient, funny and inspiring people I know. As the lead for my team in the Department of Communications, he’s been an amazing boss and a pleasure to work for. I was continuously inspired and impressed at his personal organization and time management, and the care he’s put investing into our team. I could always depend on him to get something done when he said he would and not only that, but to do a stellar job at it.
He constantly had great and creative ideas to do new things on our team or in our department that improved current processes, or made things easier/better. He is always researching or teaching himself more and trying to increase his skill level, knowledge and education in everything! If you thought you found out about some new cutting edge program, tool, application, etc, and you’d tell him about it, you’d find out that he’s been beta testing it for the past year! I always liked to say he was “smarter than the internet” (which really, can you get much better than that?).
His skills and experience vary in so many ways I don’t know if I could begin to touch on them all. Here is just a taste of what he was in charge of and what he did: designing and editing workbooks or high level publication pieces for our organization, helping lead our organization in it’s transition from Outlook to Google Apps (no small feat), project managing, he played a key role in moving our website to a new platform, he (all by himself) gathered content/stories, designed, edited and distributed our first staff newsletter (which was received with RAVE reviews). He is a ridiculously quick learner and even though usually he’s usually right, I’ve always admired his humble and teachable spirit and how he’s always open to others opinions, feedback and critique.
I haven’t even mentioned he is a wicked talented musician. He’s written and recorded original music which our organization has used in our productions and videos. He’s an accomplished pianist, guitar, bass, dobro, mandolin, bouzouki, hammered dulcimer and accordion player. Yes you read that right. I’m probably even missing some.
Even with his ‘big picture’ or ‘high level’ skills, he was also good at the smaller administrative tasks that so often go overlooked.
Personally and professionally, I can’t say enough good things about BJ. He is one of the most hard working, pleasant, agreeable and fun people to be around, and I’m so honored and fortunate to have had a chance to work with him.
Cathy, a print broker, said this:
From the perspective of a business owner dealing with clients all day long, we used to joke that BJ was the “Best Customer Ever.” This came about because BJ was always so well organized, his instructions were clear, and he didn’t demand unreasonable turnaround times. In the printing world, that is a rare gem. His designs were excellent – a rare blend of simplicity and yet completely “on message.” I especially admired his work on the “Equip” group of books he worked on – the cover designs were simple, clean, and moving. No easy feat when designing for three different programs aimed at three different audiences.
On a personal note, BJ is quite simply a quality human being. His kindness and integrity shine through in everything he does. In business, not all customers are interested in a win-win situation, but BJ truly looked at Rover Graphics as a partner, not just a supplier providing a commodity. He listened to and respected my opinions. And when we did get a chance to have personal conversations, I always appreciated how he truly listened and cared about whatever the subject happened to be. I am truly going to miss working with him as a partner, but I know that whatever new opportunity comes BJ’s way, he will excel.
Josiah, a supervisor, said this:
Brenton is an extremely creative communications director. His vision for internal and external business communications combined with his IT and graphic design background made him very effective. This skill set combined with Brenton’s commitment to creating exceptional wins for his teams make Brenton a great asset.
